"Hello? It's Tiny, the trainee!"

Haha, Dr. Mumble is funny:

The phone of the ward is ringing but he was there at first to answer the phone.
He says in a very high and female like voice "Helloooo? It's Tiny, the trainee here!"
I smiled.

"Everybody should believe in something. I believe I'll have another coffee."

~Author Unknown

I've got 50% of the stuff I will have to hand in tomorrow finished.. Jeez.. I'm so tired..

Shaking hands

Uh, great. Had the late shift today, will have morning shift tomorrow.
Feeling totally dead beat included.

This freaked me out today:

An older female patient tried to clear her anus digitally.
Yes, I mean she used her finger to get the feces out.
Without a glove or something.
My colleague shrugged her shoulders and said:
"Well, a lot of old people do it that way."

Note to myself:
  • Don't shake hands with old people anymore.

Jeez.. Still feel sick thinking about it.. *shudder*

I heart your heart

After posting a lot of stuff about hearts yesterday I feel like posting stuff which is connected with this cute little hollow organ:

Found via LeLove

Aaand my favourite:

Hm, I'm not sure if I could pull it off to actually wear this necklace but it's pretty cool.

Ouf.. I'm pretty tired but there's one thing on my mind quite constantly for the last 4 days:

I am in the very lucky position to say, that I love my job.
Of course there are days which are just crazy and stressful and annoying and not worthy to think about twice but whenever I get asked if I don't regret it to work there even though I passed my Abitur (or A-Level or Matura or whatever you call it)
(they seem to believe I "wasted" myself with working as a nurse)
I can say wholeheartedly:
"No, I don't regret it. I never think it is a waste of time to make other people's lives at least a little bit better."

"And if we don't see each other again.."

Oh dear.. Yesterday really turned me down.

A female patient said that to her husband before she was brought to the operating rooms.
He had tears in his eyes and replied: "Don't you dare to say something like that! We'll get through this, alright?"

I never know what to say in situations like that.

Lisztomania (sung by kids)

So I had this song stuck in my head for days (You can listen to it here)
But these kids are so damn cute..
Can't imagine the kids I went to school with singing and waving their arms like this.
Lame as they were..

Cute to the max.: Forever young by Alphaville sung by these cuties :)
See also: Viva la vida (gwahh cute kids make me pass out of sheer delight :D)

How to break a heart

Pretty creepy.. The voice, the idea.. Everything.
Pretty interesting though.

I like the pick-up line: "Your heart has a very large thermal capacity.." though.
What do you guys think?

Back to work

Wow, that was a pretty interesting first day so far.

Being back at work includes:
  • Swollen, blue/red/violet toe (See: Foot versus ceramic thermo-mug = Foot loses!)
  • Funny doctor sleeping on the sofa after working for 24 hours. (Some of the nurses call him Dr. Mumble)
  • Grannies suffering from dementia screaming: "I'M SCARED!" "DON'T HURT ME!" "I'M HUNGRY" etc without pausing for hours
  •  The everyday madness
Seriously, I missed it somehow!

Patients beware! Tiny will come to your ward!

Found this brain on wikipedia

So I passed all my exams pretty good (thehe) and now I am ready for the next ward!
When I am working in the hospital I have really much more to write about because not much happens at nursing school..

Random pics I made

Found the heart while cleaning and tidying up. So cool, can't stop touching it.
The second pic is my favorite this month.
It's so vibrant! Spring is calling, yay, yay, yay! Yesterday evening it was warm enough to walk outside without jacket, scarf and whatever!

Live from your kitchen table!

Pretty nice, a little jam session while sitting round the kitchen table eating pizza.

For 2 persons you need:

200g Spaghetti (or any other kind of pasta)
50g pine nuts
125g Ricotta cheese
1/2 untreated lemon (you need the paring and the juice)
italian herbs such as basil, rosemary, oregano
salt & pepper

Cook the pasta "al dente" according to the instructions,
roast the pine nuts in a pan (without oil!) slightly until they are slightly brown and smell good.

Peel the paring of the lemon into lemon zests, squeeze the juice out of the lemon.
Chop the herbs into small pieces and stir them with the Ricotta cheese and taste it with some lemon juice and lemon zests.
Add salt and pepper if you like.

Put the pasta on your dishes and add the Ricotta cheese mix, sprinkle the nuts over it and serve it.

This is how it looks:

Metem Promo Video

Metem - "Despite of Opinions" EP Promo from ilovecut on Vimeo.

I like the drawings but it annoys me that I cannot watch at videos or pictures like that without going through all the medical terms in my head. Today is the last exam (second oral part).

The festival of lights

Berlin - Festival of Lights from Konstantin Alemasov on Vimeo.

Pretty cool. I would love to see it.
By the way la petite future doctoresse will be in Berlin in 2 months! So excited, I can't wait!
And there will be pretty much new stuff soon.. So sit tight! :)

I had a strange dream last night.

In my dream I worked on the new ward where I will be working soon in real life.
I went into every room and talked with the patients and somehow I offered them to lay down on a very huge bed. "Try it, so you will get used to it." I said in my dream.
I'm not quite sure why they should lay there but it had something to do with taking their fears of dying away..

Pretty creepy, huh? Just what I thought.

Nice! I would like to have one for my room!

This is pretty creative.
I'm not quite sure why she is farting diamonds but keep watching, they've drawn a very nice pelvis and parts of the spine too.

I like the song. It's pretty laid back. Just like my sunday was :)

Mais l'amour c'est l'amour

This made me really sad:

"La mort c'est la mort. Mais l'amour c'est l'amour. La mort c'est seulement la mort. Mais l'amour c'est l'amour."

It means: Death is death. But love is love. Death is only death. But love is love.
It was written by a girl whose boyfriend committed suicide. I feel so sorry for her even though I don't know her.

PS: You like my shirt?

Things to keep in a jar... kind of.

Found this lovely pic on Wikipedia.. I would like to do that with my brain before I go to bed, haha.

Things to keep in a jar: Knowledge

I'm still learning for the exams and somehow I always have this weird feeling that I don't know enough.
I need more!

Found this also on Wikipedia.

Link love for your weekend!

Paint on my fingers

This could be my closet!

Stuck on my mind the whole day:

Knitted heart

Horny notes made me smile

Ctrl + Z means I'm sorry?

What would you do if you were the last human alive on earth?
Did you ever think about this? I did. This guy spend a thought or two on this topic obviously.

Is it real?

I. and I are standing in the radiologist's bureau.
There is a skeleton hanging.
We look at it, heads tilt a little.

I: "It looks weird, doesn't it?"
Tiny: "Yeah, pretty much." *touchesitwithherfingertip* "Uh."
I: "Is it real?"
Tiny: "Yup."
I: "Are you serious?!"
Tiny asking the radiologist: "Is it real?"
Radiologist: "Yes, it is. Skeletons like these are super expensive these days, they can cost thousands of euros."

Tiny wipes her hand off without causing too much attention..
This is it by the way:

Link love for the new week

Heart beats brain!

Every night

I like these! Especially the one that says:
"Keep a green tree in your heart and perhaps a singing bird will come"

A cup full of hope

This is cute: I'm still crazy, stupid

This is cute.. and sad: Her hand, it fit in mine

This really amazed me:
It's a virtual orchestra and you can make them play!
I've tried it a couple of times and it always sounds nice.
Make sure to check it out, it's really cool!

Some of my favourite things

I saw them live at the BlocParty concert, uh-hu! *thumbsup*
Best part begins at 3:07

After the click you can see 3 of the pics I made at the concert last year, but the quality sucks.. My mobile camera is pretty useless.

Random pics I made

The last one was a bit accidental. I pushed the button without wanting it while walking.

Wait, did I really listen to this back then?

Yesterday I had enough time to skip through the music on my PC.
Time goes by, guys..
Even though some of the songs aren't older than two years it feels like this was decades ago.
This is what Tiny listened to when she was young(er).

Please be gentle and don't judge me, I would like to book some of the songs under "follies of youth"
Hehehe.. In the end, J. was maybe right when he always told me that I was "a fucking emokid".
I know all the songs by heart even after years of not listening to them..^^

There is this one Mad Sin song: She's so bad that it's good.
I just can't find it online but it's still so awesome! :)
So if you don't like all the other stuff, that's totally okay, but check this Mad Sin song out!

"The band itself describes its style as "The Who without the deafness. Matchbox Twenty without the cross over-cheddar. Counting Crows without the Bar band factor. Wilco with hope. Radiohead without the computerized sorrow and bleeps and bloops. The Police without the 80s. Maroon 5 without Stevie Wonder."

That's what's written down about them on Wikipedia .

Link love instead of continuing learning..

Since I did the Beating hearts, baby - post I have this Head Automatica song stuck in my head.

This song includes: Tiny dancing around like a total nut and singing/posing pretty pathetic :D

Message in a cookie - cutters
What kind of message would you put in your cookies?
And who would receive so cute cookies?
Secret love messages for your sweety?
Plain explanations of ingredients?
"Weed"? (Just kidding!)
or just a warning so no one eats your cookies?
"Beware of the owner!" or "Hands off or I'll bite your finger off!"
The possibilities seem endless.

Connected is a short movie I saw a few days ago.
The setting is really cool, even though the plot is a little bit lame.

An interview with Dita von Teese (It's some kind of girl crush thing, I guess)

The Lungashtray - Filling lungs with ash the stylish way

The guy who is named like a pagan god posted this in his away:

I like it somehow.

Beating hearts, Baby!

This is the MRI of a beating heart.
Found it on Wikipedia.
I don't know why hearts fascinate me so much, I could honestly spend hours watching the ECG.
PS: I drew this once for school:

PS: I made this!

This is the box I made for my "goddaughter" (one of the new trainees in hospital) last october.

She said she's got it on her desk still :)

The most WTF like sentence of the week

Girl I: "I don't like it, that parking-lots for disabled people are always in front of the entry."
Girl II: "Have you ever moved a wheelchair?"
Girl I: "No, but I think it's discriminating against the rest of the citizens: They always have to walk farther."
Girl II: "..." -.-"

"During my second year of nursing school our professor gave us a quiz.  I breezed through the questions until I read the last one:  "What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?"  Surely this was a joke.  I had seen the cleaning woman several times, but how would I know her name?  I handed in my paper, leaving the last question blank.  Before the class ended, one student asked if the last question would count toward our grade.  "Absolutely," the professor said.  "In your careers, you will meet many people.  All are significant.  They deserve your attention and care, even if all you do is smile and say hello."  I've never forgotten that lesson.  I also learned her name was Dorothy."

"I want to buy you flowers
it's such a shame you're a boy
but when you are not a girl
nobody buys you flowers

I want to buy you flowers
and now I'm standing in the shop
I must confess I wonder
if you will like my flowers..

Totally forgot it.. well not really

Yesterday morning I had a song stuck in my head
but when I wanted to post it in the afternoon as "Soundtrack of the day" post -
I noticed that I totally forgot which one it was.. Uber annoying..
But this morning I opened my eyes and thought:

Plug in by Muse!

And there you go:

Just a quick quote

Did I mention the exams which will be in...eeep.. 10 days?

Shocking ads - worth thinking about

Whoa.. I saw these ads today and they are really, really good.
But they punch you right in the face.

Quote of the day

"I had some dreams, they were clouds in my coffee"
~Carly Simon

Little old lady - epic swearing!

Did I ever tell you about this old lady in hospital?

She was really, really small, maybe 1,55m (or 5"1) and her weight was at the most 45kg.
"Birdie" she was called by the nurses.
But this lady could swear, oh boy..

My jaw dropped to the floor when something didn't work out the way she wanted.
"Goddammit! What's this again? Shit! That's it!"

She was one of the little old ladies you would expect to say nothing worse than:
"Oh my goodness!"

Still waters run deep and dirty, right?

20 weird English words

How to have an amazing day And we all want amazing days, don't we?

I admit:
When I saw this for the first time I had tears in my eyes. So sad and heart warming at once.

A new kind of beauty

Mr. Toledano did a very awesome shoot with people who had plastic surgeries (Obviously..)

I like it how he portrays them:
They look froward on the one hand but totally fragile on the other hand.

Is it just me or do you also think that some of the photos are styled like images of saints?

(Oh and by the way: They are slightly NSFW!)
